Michael - Re: "I wonder if notebooks are are making up a larger percentage of computer sales. My gut tells me they are, but I haven't read any statistics on it. Have you?"

Here is one Datapoint - courtesy of Hambrecht and Quist (August, 1997):

{====================================}

Significantly Ahead of Expectations
CDW Computers reported strong June quarter results which significantly exceeded Street expectations.
 Revenues increased 39% to $305 million while EPS grew 51% to $0.59, well above the $0.50 Street consensus.
 Desktop and notebook unit volumes increased 66% and 82%, respectively, with notebook sales accounting for 27% of the total.

{=============================}

I think the 27% number for the notebook market is fairly accurate. And you-know-who has 99.5% of that market - CPU wise! (Psst - don't tell any analysts 'cause these cost more than $1000).
