And this is where it all started. Arrogance from SI and revolt from the users. Users politely asked several times, not to completely remove this new "improvement" but to give users an option to disable the auto activation of menus that so many didn' like. Some of us only asked for the option, so we, (who would like it) could manage this part ourselves instead of be forced to use it in this implementation. And solution is so easy even monkeys can do it. Have an option in settings: "activate menus by click instead move over"

Response vas very rude and arrogant. In a sense, it is not going to happen and to basically just shut up. Since then i have no respect for people in charge at SI. And i don't consider SI my home any more and my posting here is less than 1% of my previous posting.

And yes, you are correct, very very poor design.

There were few members here, that supported monkey's position. In a sense that there should be no option for some of us and menus should be the same for all. Nice, how some people can be so intolerant as to not give right to other group to have an option. It is going to be my way only and you better learn to start to like it!

It would be so simple to fix - make it optional via an either/or in one's profile [maybe using Mario's brilliant suggestion, simply choose between mouseover activation and clicking], or else put a delay on it so it doesn't instantly block the page when you accidentally mouseover the g.d. things

The broker i use the most has on their holdings pages little intraday charts that pop up when you put the mouse on the company name - but not instantly, you need to put the mouse there for at least one second, it may be two - they don't automatically block your view of the rest of the page ... this works well, and i use them a fair amount, ever since they stopped supplying the streaming quotes they used to get from the Globe and Mail, which were too highly useful to customers to keep going, i guess [this they got very very wrong]

That's on their 'current webbroker' format, the little intraday charts i use, they have their own issues with massively arrogant incompetence in the 'new improved webbroker' they'd like to force the customers to use ... gaudy colours, more graphics less info, too much stuff you don't want that gets in the way of the stuff you do ... and the first page you get on entry, it addresses you by your first name - that's just far too uppity for a computer programme of a service that gets serious bucks out of me ... and it gives you nowhere to reply to management, so you could point out the faulty manners, and say hey, that's Mister Arsehole to you, Sunshine

They have this 'advanced dashboard' thing now, that is supposed to replace the streaming quotes, and it does have live depth, instant posting of trades, intraday charts, etc, but it's got far too many other useless bells and whistles that get in the way, and it's far harder to see, i have to use reading glasses and put my nose nine inches from the screen ... while it's true that i've changed my trading style quite radically due to a conviction that we're into a real metals bull now, the deterioration in their site has definitely contributed to a falloff in commissions they get from me

Quite often when confronted with their techie issues, i think man oh man, they sure could use a Brad Dryer ... and a Mario, and a TEDennis, and a Hoatzin, for informed constructive criticism
