They might be mad. With even some justification. But if it was unexpected, they were naive. Political parties are(supposedly) independent entities that make their own rules. Now personally I think since the elections and conventions are paid for by taxpayers, they should have to follow certain rules, but that isn't how our system works. Why should tax payers pony up $140 million so the parties can, well party?

And yeah, the Democratic leadership is worried. They should be. The Republican leadership should have been worried about cracks in their base, but they weren't. And now they have Trump.

But mad at a system that rewards political insiders? Where have they been for the past 200+ years? Didn't they pay attention in history and civics class? That is a defining characteristic of any political party. Like since they started having them. This isn't just an American thing, every political party that has ever existed operates on a similar principle.
