Breitbart reports on the Luvvies’ Love In at St Tropez:

Leonardo DiCaprio sounded a dire warning at his charity foundation’s annual climate change gala in St. Tropez Wednesday night, telling the dozens of celebrities and dignitaries in attendance that they represent the “last generation” that has a chance to halt the deleterious effects of global warming.

Dozens of A-list stars made the trek to the French Riviera for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation’s annual Gala to Fund Climate and Biodiversity Projects, including U2 frontman Bono, actors Bradley Cooper, Edward Norton, Jonah Hill, Tobey Maguire and Chris Rock and singers Mariah Carey, Lana del Rey and The Weeknd.

The event’s co-chairs included Robert De Niro, Kevin Spacey, Kate Hudson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Penelope Cruz, Cate Blanchett and Charlize Theron.

The star-studded event raised a record $45 million for DiCaprio’s environmental projects, mainly through its charity auction, according to EcoWatch.

Attendees bid on items like a date with DiCaprio to the U.S. Open’s men’s final, a week on set with legendary director Martin Scorcese, an invitation to a poker game with Jonah Hill and Edward Norton and lunch with Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie.

Other items at the auction included DiCaprio’s Rolex watch and the diamond cufflinks he wore while accepting his first Best Actor Academy Award for The Revenant earlier this year.

DiCaprio sounded a warning message in his remarks to the celebrity-packed room.

“While we are the first generation that has the technology, the scientific knowledge and the global will to build a truly sustainable economic future for all of humanity — we are the last generation that has a chance to stop climate change before it is too late,” DiCaprio said, according to EcoWatch.

The star’s weighty message didn’t dampen the festivities: del Rey and the Weeknd performed while Mariah Carey flitted about the room snapping pictures with her fellow celebrities.

As Breitbart News previously reported, DiCaprio may have hurt his own cause by hosting the gala in St. Tropez, France, far away from where many of its attendees live in Southern California.

If just one of the celebrities who attended the event traveled the 12,000-mile round trip from Los Angeles to France by private jet, they would have burned enough fossil fuel to emit approximately 86 tons of carbon dioxide. The average American, for comparison, puts out around 19 tons of carbon dioxide on airline flights per year.

Saving the planet done, Leo can get back home (via helicopter, buggy and private jet!)

Environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio (pictured with Tobey Maguire second left and Vincent Larescahops left) from helicopter to gas guzzling private jet in Saint Tropez after his celebrity eco fundraiser

DiCaprio was pictured donning a pair of camouflage shorts, a purple T Shirt and a straw hat as he made his way across the tarmac in the heat with friends Tobey Maguire (second from left) and Vincent Laresca (left)

DiCaprio was then pictured minutes later talking on the phone and sucking on a vaper, as he was carted across the runway by in a buggy.

There seemed be just a handful of passengers making their way on to the private jet, whose fuel on average produces 21 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions per gallon burned

Critics will be quick to note that the actor’s private jet trips undermine his moral authority to preach reducing carbon emissions

TheDCNF Watched Hillary’s Global Warming Doomsday Ad And It’s AWFUL!
Michael Bastasch
dailycaller.com

“We all know it’s happening. It’s real. It’s happening now.”

Those are the opening lines of an apocalyptic new campaign ad by Hollywood director James Cameron on why voters can’t trust Republican candidate Donald Trump to tackle global warming.

“Crops are failing, food prices are rising, communities are threatened. Our children are at risk,” actress Sigourney Weaver says in the opening scenes of Cameron’s five-minute doomsday film.

It’s part of Cameron’s effort to use famous actors to draw attention to global warming and build support for Clinton’s 2016 campaign. The director wants to draw a bleak picture of the future if Trump is elected and continues to allow Americans to use fossil fuels.

Sounds terrifying. So, The Daily Caller News Foundation took time to watch Cameron’s short video. Our verdict: It’s hilariously misleading.

The opening scenes are filled with scenes of extreme weather events including droughts, storms, floods, wildfires and heat waves wreaking havoc across the globe. Weaver follows up her opening lines by saying “this is not something we’ve seen before.”

Weaver conveniently leave out some key facts. For starters, extreme weather has been around, and will continue to be around, with or without man-made global warming. She also could have mentioned the United Nations’ climate science arm hasn’t found strong evidence weather is actually become more extreme because of global warming.

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says there “is limited evidence of changes in extremes associated with other climate variables since the mid-20th century.”

The IPCC found “no significant observed trends in global tropical cyclone frequency over the past century. … No robust trends in annual numbers of tropical storms, hurricanes and major hurricanes counts have been identified over the past 100 years in the North Atlantic basin.”

The IPCC also found “there continues to be a lack of evidence and thus low confidence regarding the sign of trend in the magnitude and/or frequency of floods on a global scale” adding “that there is not enough evidence at present to suggest more than low confidence in a global-scale observed trend in drought or dryness (lack of rainfall) since the middle of the 20th century due to lack of direct observations, geographical inconsistencies in the trends.”

Despite that inconvenience, Cameron was able to fill his short video with celebrities, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Don Cheadle, America Ferrara and Jack Black. It’s perhaps Black that has one of the most ridiculous lines in the video.

“Eventually Miami will be under water it’s just a question of when,” Black says, alluding to the many claims that flooding in Miami is a regular occurrence.

TheDCNF has already looked into Miami’s supposed regular flooding, and it’s not as simple as yelling “global warming” when the tide comes up. Miami Beach floods during King Tides, a naturally-occurring high tide caused by the moon’s orbit.

Even if that wasn’t the case, Miami Beach also has a system pumps to make sure flooding doesn’t get too bad.

“Make no mistake, Trump’s reckless denial of climate change is dangerous — a threat to your livelihood, your safety, your children and the prosperity of this nation,” Weaver adds.

Weavers remarks are followed up by a change in the film from scenes of doom, gloom and darkened skies to scenes with bright blue skies with wind turbines humming along as children play.

“As Americans we face challenges head on. Our country is ready to tackle the challenge of climate change,” Clinton says in the ad. “Together we can make America the world’s clean energy superpower.”
