Like I said, I am not making a moral or political judgement. In some ways, Bernie and Trump were closer to each other than to Hillary. But like any good politician, she senses the wind well and changes direction as needed.

But Trump, Bernie, Hillary, whoever...it really doesn't matter. Technological progress is fundamentally deflationary and displaces workers. We are in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution ever. And what is different about it compared to the other ones is that the pace of change is actually accelerating. This has never happened before. What do you think cab and bus drivers should do when driverless cars become feasible? In the past, you could say, well they can train as plumbers and welders or whatever. But not this time around because plumbing is also changing a lot. What used to take 3 days now can take a day. Which means we have more plumbers than we need. Ditto for everything else you can think of. Even doctors' jobs are not safe. Sure the regulation keeps them occupied for a while. But already they are complaining that modern systems is making them glorified data entry clerks. How long before most of them are replaced? How are you going to train a doctor who spent 20 years of school just to learn the job? What will you offer him?

The bottom line, you think it is the lefties who are pushing for it. But I think in a not too distant future, both parties will just trample over each other on how to throw pork at the people.

I see Socialism as choosing to live on a Plantation. You will be allowed to survive on the "owners" terms. These terms are non negotiable.
