Hillary Clinton knew better than to attack these people. Trump would do well to have simply said the same thing to the Khans, and walked away.

But his thin skin wouldn't let him. Trump is still attacking his primary challengers. Trump won't even support GOP leadership - ones who endorsed him. There is no perceived slight that is too small for Trump to become obsessed about. His Twitter feed is like Nixon's enemies list. Almost every day there is a new news organization, reporter or politician making the list. And Trump really doesn't seem to know who his friends are because this list seems endless. Trump can't carry any message because he can't stay on message. His skin is just too thin.
