Tax loss selling season is over. The shorts can now cover. They have been postponing in order to defer the tax gain.

Happy new year to all. Hope 1998 is a better year for S3. The uptick in volume is interesting, coming at year-end.

I think S3 may be a buyout candidate because it is trading at 85% of book and over 1/3 of stock price is cash. An asset with hidden value may be the investment in the fab. Another hidden asset is the technical engineers working for S3. I read recently in Electronics Times that ATI bought Tseng Labs only for the people. Electronics Times also mentioned that the industry appears ripe for consolidation due to too many players in graphics.
