Muse was subject to a 2Kg buckling test, Just out Journal of Urology an
injectable form of PGE1, alprostadil cyclodextrin was subject to only
a 1kg buckling test.

The patients also were different, Greco tested Muse in hard core ED,
all were users of injectable drugs. The Buvat study (from Paris)
included patients of both organic, psychogenic and mixed etiology.
All were with ED of 6 months duration.

Organic patients:
Alprostadil 55% positive buckling test, meaning they tolerated the
1kg pressure without bending.

Moxisylyte (alpha 1 receptor blocker, similar to phentolamine?)
only 20% positive buckling test.

The dose use was micrograms of alprostadil, not miligrams. The injectable
form needs a 1000 times less than transurethral.

Also most of the complicated patients were excluded, there was an ethical
committe to approved the study before starting.

Journal Of Urology, Vol 159, 116-119, January 1998

Double Blind Multicenter Study Comparing Alprostadil
Cyclodextrin With Moxisylyte Chlorhydrate In Patients
With Chronic Erecttile Dysfunction

Jaques Buvat, Pierre Costa et all...

Supported by Schwarz Pharma A.G., Mannheim, Germany

Note: also a drawing of how the buckling test is performed, not as
terrible as it sounds, but not nice looking either.

-- I visited the 2 plants in Lakewood again:
-- But first, thanks for the compliment on the letter - but since Barron's hasn't called me, I don't think it's going to be published.

-- The visit:

1. At about 6:00 or 6:30 pm, drove thru both parking lots.

2. The existing facility had about 50 or 60 cars real close together - in the lot adjacent to the entrance - with no cars in the back of the building.

3. The 90,000 sq ft monster plant had about 200 or so cars in the lot. There were several tractor trailers backed in to the loading bay; and one had ts lights on. Plus, I could see employees in the cafeteria wearing white outfits and hairnets.

Here's what I think it means:

a. The smaller plant, which should have had 300 cars in it, is obviously not producing new product - as stated in the confer call. There's a Christmas week shutdown to clean the lines.

b. The newer 90,000 sq ft plant is still being readied for approval.

c. If so, I think we're in good shape headed in to '98.

Out.
