You are correct, however, Trump isn't promoting a blanket ban. Just more vetting on those that may be entering from terror strongholds.

Any kind of blanket one dimensional approach, as Trump offers, is wrong.

I suspect this is a typical Trump negotiation tactic. Ask for the moon and settle for something in the middle. This would result in basically what you are saying. I guess this is why almost all his positions are so extreme. Does he really think Congress will let him blow up trade implementing massive tariffs? Might this result in some sort of trade reform? I assume he starts all his business negotiations this way and ultimately settles.
