I am puzzled by your post. There was a spike around 9:30 on the volume but otherwise volume appears uneventful. Avg daily volume for CMB is 2.4 million and today's volume was a little over 1.3 million. That may be good for a day like today, but I do not know. I do not know how to access the volume of options, but would be interested in further breakdown. I am interested in this stock, but do not know how to interpret huge volume in this case.

Don,

can your broker tell those volumes are buying or SELLING ?

Normally such deep-in-money calls are SELLING - to hedge their positions, rather than buying calls for a run up.

if they worry about CMB earnings (didn't they warn a while back on trading loss of 100 millions ?) such deep-in-money call selling would protect their profits without selling the shares.
