Linda, " Do you think he could pick a good stock for us? Other than (ahem) VVUS, of course.". He can't. Does not do enough market/stock reading to be able to do that. Next year he is doing AP Economics and that is a start I hope. With TDFX however he has expertise because he plays these games On-Line across the web all the time ( only hobby ), he reads on the game businesses a great drawer/graphics appreciation as well as story-line appreciation; is into game stores often; buys a game plays it and returns it after a week ( I told him that technically this is stealing, gg:I said these folks spend time and energy doing these games and they want you to buy them; he stopped that practice, and went out and set up a CD-Game copying system!!! When I realized, accidentally, what was going on ( I have no idea what all his equipment in his room is for ), I said son, this is stealing too!! furthermore it is illegal!! Well he stopped that practice. Now he is into conning his friends into buying games he wants to try!! The TDFX thread thinks the stock will go to 40-50 in 18 months because of the lock on the ultrarealistic 3DGame graphics if has. They do look awfully good I must admit when I look at his computer. screen.Wall Street J ~ 3 weeks ago had a nice section on the rising size of the PC game market, in the upper quality levels. There's a whole lot of grown ups playing. I keep challenging my son and telling him it is possible Intel will trip this little company. He says it's a niche artistic field, and money doesn't give you talent!!He quotes Microsoft trying to buy Intuit ( or was it Novell) 2 years ago for their home spreadsheet business because they couldn't compete with it ( Justice Dept nixed the deal on antitrust grounds). However I got to grant it to the little one. He is honest ask him: How high will TDFX go? " I don't know". How soon will it go up? " I don't know ". Is this a good buy for me? " I don't know". Do you recommend it for me? " no I can't; you have to make your own decisions". I wish some of that thinking rubbed off on my brokers!! Happy New Year! TA
