Mentally ill people sometimes write long screeds explaining their convoluted world view and various conspiracies which led them murder people at their school or place of work or other location. Some like Andreas Lubitz share their twisted perspective only with their closest family, who rarely suspect this will lead the person with mental illness to kill hundreds. Others identify their actions with groups they have only passing contact with or ideas they have read about, neo-nazis who have never net an actual Nazi, Catholics who have never met the Pope, or even aetheists and Presbyterians who claim their actions are part of a group in the news like ISIS or Falun Gong. There are billions of people in the world, and a percentage of these people have alwats been mentally ill. We can only try to achieve harm reduction.
