As Josh Marshall has pointed out, Trump is all about domination. Secondarily, anyone who is dominated is humiliated. Certainly Trump like to deal out humiliation to anyone he dominates. Just look at how he has treated Christie. Or Pence. But Hillary is dominating him by every measure. And, at least in his mind, that humiliation is soon to be followed by what ever she chooses to dole out. So he has to establish domination over her. Somehow. I expect him to get more erratic as time goes on.

Trump manages, yet again, to grab more negative headlines. The only real question was whether he was suggesting that gun nuts go shoot Hillary Clinton, or the go shoot a couple of supreme court justices Trump deems liberal and might thus toughen gun laws. Probably, he was suggesting both. Trump just loves giving his nutty followers red meat. Normal politicians well understand that bully pulpit should not be abused in such a manner. There are a lot of crazies out there. Trump doesn't, he just loves bathing in the sounds of his screaming supporters as he fans the flames of religious intolerance, racial hatred, or whatever else excites his base. In this case, implied threats against the lives of their perceived political opponents.
