Nice of you to say.

It is a delicate balance weighing being polite to being outspoken for a worthy cause.

And I admit to struggling with that balance all my life. Too often unsuccessfully due to my own personality defects. Just last year at a party with my kids and some of their friends one person asked me: "have you always been so outspoken?".

My answer: "the African American was tortured for 100 years in the south after the civil war, with institutionalized segregation and racism. Where were the voices of the "good people" who knew it was so wrong?

They always talk about southern hospitality. Tell that to an African American.

As Eldridge Clever once said in his book: "Soul On Ice": If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
