There is nothing but some anecdotal evidence for what you posted. There is actual evidence, you know with numbers attached, that the opposite is true.

Look at the results of that experiment in Canada where they gave one town a guaranteed minimum income. Instead of sponges, they created a better educated and healthier population.

Just because you would become a sponge, doesn't mean that everyone would.
