Happy New Year, Becker! Thot this might be the final climatic sell signal we've all been looking for: panning kits at ....CompUSA? (Copied from BGO SI site today)
vargas sez: i was in a discount electronics store over t'holidays and they were selling gold panning kits for $49.95; weird that an electronic store would be selling this type of merchandise.

to which I, O/49r, replied...
Thanks for the competitor update, vargas...guess I'll rush over to my website (http://www.worldaccessnet.com/~goldbug/sampling.htm ) and hike the price on MAH sediment sampling/panning kit...
and heck...
you can even spend a few bucko's extra for the how-to video tape I offer and still not spend $49.95!!!!
(Opps, I guess if I hike my price, that'd be contributing t'inflation)

Oh, well, this GEN-U-WINE hardmoney panning kit o'mine's low LOW price is more fun than a WonderWok infomercial by George Forman that drains out all that icky grease as well as drains yer wallet, right???

Come one, come all...
Panning kit,
Bag o' sands with actual gold in it, to practice on,
How-to Printed Instructions
and VHS Demonstration Tape...
I'm even offering a proprietary tool t'improve your panning success!
Everyday low price:.....
Get YOURS while they last!!!

...thanks fer the idea, vargas!

Hi-first..happy 1998
I was able to get the url this time by clicking on favorites..and
saving it as a favorite..that worked in IE4
I am afraid that this is going to be the year of the bond market.
Soros's article was implicitly negative for the gold market. Nobody
is going for an anchor anymore. It appears it is no longer for the
financial people's self interest or maybe they feel we are in the
stage where it is hopeless...we are too far adrift repeating history.
I think the bull market in gold is way off.
I have been looking at a lot of individual charts this year like
Homestake. I thought I saw saw much accumulation..So much for that..
That was when the price was so much higher. Now I am afraid to look
at them because I found them to be misleading.
More money will flow into the USA since it is perceived to be the
safe haven. So now if the Japanese sell the bonds, people will just
grab them. oh well....
after the Europeans settle their common currency, maybe things will
get interesting
