In MIT's Technology Review for Jan the cover article is "Antibiotics Come Out of the Shadows". A general backgrounder on the issue mostly dealing w/ why there is a push for new antibiotics. MCDE's Bostian says the company is close to picking its best candidate for drug development(for pumps) and that clinicals might occur next year, w/ product possibly on the mkt 3 to 4 years later. Also scary among patients who got enterocci infections while in hospitals, VRE rose from 0.3% in '89 to 14.2% in '96, according to CDC. Happy New Year Everbody!!
