Not really. While he personally might be ok with the LGBT community, he has spoken out against them on several occasions. He also has taken as advisers some strident homophobes. Since he started getting political ambitions he has taken many any LGBT stances, including promising to roll back gay marriage. I grant you to suck up to evangelicals he pretty much has to do these things, but the fact remains is he has done these things. Sort of like to suck up to the racists and white supremacists, he has to adopt their language.
