W10 has been good about installing the proper drivers for my stuff. Even one older than yours, a Radeon 4600 series shows up in Device Manager. My Dell 2209WA monitors use 1680 x 1050.

I know you know this, but if the drivers are generic, or not listed properly you can d/l them here and see if the resolution options change.

Good luck. That system should work well for her usage for a long time to come, esp if you get the resolution fixed.
