Xia,
I think you should spend 1998 being ashamed of yourself <ggg>

Xia:
I am not clear what you refer to as "hype" but I have been a reader here since the inception and have never seen Ike, or anyone else, "hype" Ascend. When someone hypes a stock it is usually that, they are trying to get people to bid it up, so they can gain. I was keen on Ascend at one point and so was Ike, but there was no hype from us. The "hype" if there was any was from the company execs that painted rosy pictures of future earnings growth and concealed the facts until the last minuete that, the company would fall short of estimated earnings.

Nonone on this thread gets paid for their advice, thoughts, etc., so the responsibility is on the investor to check it out. I lost money on Ascend but I blame only myself. The company execs are getting sued and perhaps they have some culpability but I don't look to recover my losses from the class action suit. Remember also many professionals got burned on this stock too. Kramer is one who admitted buying up at about $53 or so and losing a bunch of money. He blames management.

As far as your comment As a year end note, I do think I should be very careful about who
and what to listen to.
that is a lesson you and your friend both have learned A better year end note perhaps is this.

It is a new year, lets learn from our past mistakes but not hold onto them, lets look forward to the new opportunities, find them seize them. Good luck and prosperity in 1998.
