To All: Happy new year from Brasil. It is 9:30 here but only 6:00 AM here so you should all be sleeping. I want to wish everyone the best in 1998. First: good health, second: No personal problems/messes; Third but not least: A good return in the market. Free [short] advice (worth that much): 1. Be patient in letting your positions unfold and in jumping in out of stocks. My biggest mistake is to be ahead of events usually by about 2-3 weeks. I frequently start my short positions too earily [example: BFIT], or cover too fast [particularly high fliers/over priced stocks: e.g., NVLS, WLA, INTC] 2. don't get in/out at one price [not an original: I attribute it to Staff, check him out at the DDIM thread among others] 3. Continue improving your investment education, portfolio theory, managerial and cost accounting. This is what eventually will allow you to make the big bucks. 4. Don't spend too much of your [net]time at SI. You must "eat your vegetables" by reading read WSJ, Barron's, Business Week, Forbes, Fortune and all the SEC fillings on your stocks before you hit Roger's thread at SI for dessert. My current shorts: I will indicate share numbers wipping out the zeroes (I leave it you your imagination whether it is 2, 3, 4, or more you should add) IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER: ACLY 4 ALYD 2 AOL 1 AVNT 2 BFIT 12 CNC 1 DDIM 2 IPIC 4 SEEC 6 YHOO 1 ZITL 10 ZMAX 1.25 Of these I am planing to cover CNC and possibly to IPIC buy WDRY, PCTY, and add to AOL and YHOO as these go higher. Regards to all. Would have prepared a more complete first post but I still have a hangover as I type. BTW, I go SI silent 1/2-1/26. I will not have access to the net while in Venezuela. Back to Boston on 2/26 to start teaching the Spring semester [rough professor's life!] Pancho
