Do they really need hundreds of thousands of young future "worker" immigrants? Yes, I know their birth rate is low - but even so, in many places they have something like a 50+% youth unemployment.

Precisely. These countries are nuts to let these people in.

>>Maybe politicians want their populations to be preoccupied with immigrants - and forget about debt, unemployment and a declining standard of living? Maybe those pols are not crazy - just cynical?

Merkel and the EU bunch are batshit crazy. By every objective measure and rational theory, what they've done is a failure much worse than Obama/Clinton, so they want to do more of it. Yes. Really.

Merkel has gone maverick and I'm sure is crazy and in her orbit she has a lot more power than the US prez. Not good.

The other national leaders aren't so bad and some good but they're in the middle of the EU/Euro entanglement and sorting it out, or getting out means, for some, a huge upheaval and they're frightened by both knowns and unknowns. The Poles and Hungarians seem quite clear minded.

For sure, what they do not need is President H. Clinton.
