Tyson may become wrestling ref

NEW YORK, Dec. 31 (UPI) - Mike Tyson may be making a comeback. The
New York Daily News reports that Iron Mike is working on a deal with the
World Wrestling Federation that would place him in the ring as a
referee.
The former heavyweight champion was barred from boxing after he bit
part of Evander Holyfield's ear off during a bout this summer.
According to the newspaper, promoter Don King is talking with
Wrestlemania XIV officials on Tyson's behalf.
However, it quotes the legal adviser for the Nevada State Athletic
Commission - the organization that threw Tyson out of the sport - as
saying officials would take a dim view of his proposed move to
wrestling, which would ''circumvent the spirit and intention of the
commission.''
The ex-boxer was supposed to referee a wrestling match in 1990, but
the WWF un-invited him after he lost the championship to Buster Douglas.
The Daily News says Tyson has also been invited to join WWF as a
wrestler but turned down the offer.
The WWF is familiar with ear attackers. More than four decades ago,
Killer Kowalski chomped on Yukon Eric's ear during a match.

>>Probably should ask David U. about hurricanes, too.>

True enough. We're overdue on the upper Texas coast. Most have been making big u-turns and inflicting themselves on LA, MI, AL, and FL. I remember one 8 or 9 years ago where the eye came right over us. Wind blowing and raining like the dickens one minute, no wind and sunny the next minute, ten minutes later a 60 mile wind blowing from the opposite direction. I was outside and saw my 8-foot gate go flying into the side of the house, even though it was designed to swing in the opposite direction and a (formerly straight) steel post was holding it in place. Then I heard a crackling sound behind me and turned to observe the top 20 feet of my neighbor's back-yard oak tree go floating over the house to land in the street. I decided it was a good time to go inside.

Oh well, we need a good gully washer now and then. At least the earth doesn't move and the mud doesn't slide, like in CAuliflower.

By the way, you left out NASA, Steve.

Changing subjects.......

I see the Nadaq finished the year up 21.6%. Anyone know what the S&P did? I'm disappointed to report a personal portfolio return of 14.2%, which was negatively impacted by some year-end bottom fishing, er, value investing, and a year-round cash position of anywhere from 10 to 30 percent. My big losers were APM, Ascend and Ascend options, USRX options that I bought pre-merger announcement (those KILLED me), and an Emerging Markets fund. My big winners list is Computer Associates, Citrix!, JNJ, USLD/LCI, and SCI Systems!.

That sure was a lot of work. Maybe I should start looking at index funds. Naw, that wouldn't be as much fun.

Happy New Year, All!

A national heritage You Texans make big claims.....

Steve says: yes, the only state that was a republic

Now not so fast there Tex...

California Republic
AKA "Bear Flag"

In June 1846 American settlers in California revolted and proclaimed an independent republic. They raised a bear flag that had a star and stripe from "Old Glory" and a silhouette of the California Grizzly. This flag was a republic flag for one month before being replaced by the Stars and Stripes and eventually became the state flag of California.
