I use three methods to backup different data.

First, I use imaging to backup my operating system and mostly only re-image when I add software or have made significant tweaks customizing a computer.

Second, I use the drag and drop method that you also use to copy personal data-folders and software installation files to another drive.

Third, I use cloning for drives that are mostly multi-media since they are big drives and there's more data than I want to trust to an image.

Most of my images are less than 100GB and I don't like for them to get too big.
