Ok, thanks for the info. While it seems logical that that the spam potential is inherently worse with email from a web site (eg Hotmail) rather than an ISP server, Hotmail does make an effort to control it and apparently has been reasonably successful from my experience.

By filtering out Hotmail, you may be filtering out attempts by your Aunt "Tillie" to email you.

My experience is that spam problem is the worst thru the on-line services, such as Compuserve and AOL.
