I think it was the Republicans that pushed to LOOSEN the regulations on Banking.

I seem to remember Bush Jr. giving a speech where he seemed to suggest that everybody should be able to buy a House.

Here are a few of the times Bush cautioned against the the problems that brought the economy down.

Bush did implement a small program for housing for the poor, but it was funded IIRC, and was nothing like the problems noted in the video above.

I wouldn't say the Republicans are blame free, at all. But if you had to place the essence of the blame I don't see how you could say the Dems weren't the culpable forces.
