In past webcasts TJ has discussed that CY is one of the early adopters of the USB 3.0.

This USB is featured in many Virtual Reality viewers.

This new USB will slowly work itself inot the dominant future USB.

The supplied basic cables shipped with many external drives are generally short, usually somewhat flimsy, and don't have gold-plated connectors. This can potentially cause performance problems particularly on USB 3.0 connections from computers (particularly on some laptops) to an external drive if power output to the device is sub-optimal which can be the case.

I don't use basic cables on any of my A/V kit and don't on connections to external drives even though my external drives all seem to perform perfectly well with the basic short cables supplied even if plugged into an external hub (which is not recommended) . I use the $5.50 'Amazon Basics' cable on the left below on my 6th generation WD My Passport Ultra and the $9 TNP cable on the right with gold-plated connectors, pure Oxygen-Free copper lines with bare copper conductors and foil & braid shielding on my 7th generation My Passport Ultra and 7400 RPM HGST Touro S. All 3 are 3 ft length instead of the 1' to 1 ½' length basic cables supplied by Western Digital ...
