That would leave the society at an evolutionary disadvantage and that seems to be the case when looking at those societies < In many Muslim societies the women do not choose. In fact they have no say in the matter of a matter whatsoever.> Though when young women do make choices, their choices are often so bad that I can see why parents would prefer to do the deciding on who is a suitable mate.

In many cases, when the man purports to be the big boss doing the deciding, in fact they consult their wives and whoever to improve their decision-making and often enough simply do as they are told - the good old power behind the throne.
