British are almost always to blame.

Usually this is the case. Yes. We have inherited this because we have been influential in world events for some time now.

There are exceptions though.

When it comes to killing large numbers of humans using gaseous methods it usually the Germans who are blamed. The most recent case is of course the VW noxious fumes emissions case. Somehow statisticians have attributed many thousands of deaths and chronic respiratory health problems to NOX and other toxic gases emitted from exhausts of VW cars. It's even been suggested that the problem has been deliberately created rather than of an accidental origin.

I'm actually surprised Bhopal incident hasn't been allocated to a German origin.

Such is the nature of rumor and gossip.

I agree that infectious diseases are at the top of the list of contributing causes for Microcephaly

I know how very easy it is for people to try and look good at their jobs, even if they are completely wrong. Of course if you have a few sales people and politicians involved, all sorts of really stoopid things can get decided. Doing nothing can be the right decision, but some times a hard political choice when emotions are inflamed on a particular issue.

However a good researcher (in my book) will look at a wide range of causes when it comes to investigating a problem to find the true nature of an issue. This would also include a few columns of data allocated to "Disco_Music" (even sub categories of disco music) until the statistical data was such that "disco music" could be eliminated from further inquiry. A good researcher knows he cannot afford to be arrogant when it comes to investigating matters in science, and that another persons viewpoint is always worthy of consideration.

Any pretense of superior intelligence or knowledge not backed up in substance usually is counter productive in scientific endeavor.

That's how I see it.
