Thank you very much. I read the circular more closely and you are correct, the tax treatment is terrible. They basically say they don't know how the IRS will treat the CRP, they didn't bother to ask, and good luck.

So I will likely sell all the shares I have in taxable accounts and maybe troll for some at a lower cost in an IRA.

Possibly this will be the last trading day for IOC assuming a favorable shareholder vote although I've seen one article that speculated a Sept 30 close date. Even Mulacek has apparently thrown in the towel. Due to tax treatment (Thank you Keith J) I sold all my taxable account shares and replaced them in an IRA and even managed to lower my basis about 50 cents. Hopefully the CRP, if there is one, will be more than the $4 premium priced into IOC now. IOC has been very good to me and has been a great trader (Thank you Commander Cricket if you're still around) so I'm taking one more roll on the CRP.
