Meathead,

Happy New years...

and thanks for checking the prices on comparable systems from Micron Electronics,CompUSA, etc. I know it is is a lot of work and the misinformation comes in faster than the factual information making this an endless task.

GTW and MUEI are not really in DELL's league. It is unlikely that they will ever be. CompUSA is not really a threat to DELL ( they have a mixed business model).

It will be interesting to see how DELL has done in the direct consumer business this quarter. I suspect this will provide an upside to last quarter.

Meathead,

The DELL price includes service while at CompUSA you purchase a limited support/service plan for $49 or $100 more. The plan is limited to supporting designated software and hardware. They also have on site warraty parts and labor plans some of which are purchased.

I would not want to have to go through the pain of getting service from them.
