Dampening Euphoria.-
I am a MUEI shareholder and have bot 3 MUEI computers, the latest being this 266 XKU, which i love. Just read article in yest WSJ about sub $1000 computers taking 40% of December computer sales, and that the margins on these computers are 2-3%, compared to 10% traditionally. This is a sector of the market that will only grow in 98. for $700 (w/o monitor) you can get a hell of a lot of computer today. CPQ just announced one for $699, 166 pentium, 2.1 gig HD, 16 Ram, Modem. Cd Rom, Speakers, software. While not the power machine i lot of us think we need, it is a very good machine. The reality is that MUEI needs to be able to compete in this market and well as develope a stronger presence in the existing market it competes in with Dell ( I don't really consider GTW a competitor). While it does appear that MU or MUEI is positioning the company for sale, let's not overlook the sobering realities of the computer industry today. Dell has the efficient marketing and production, and the name, MUEI, while making a great machine with good support, has still a pretty rough road to hoe. I think we tend to " preach to the choir" here, and just want to introduce a dose of reality. The market does tend to be a fairly accurate evaluater of value. Long at 12 and 9 3/16. Larry
