Still in the lab. Turns out, Einstein was wrong. "Spooky action at a distance" does occur. And teleportation can happen for macroscopic objects. In addition, it appears to be instantaneous.

So give it some time.

Perhaps not.

This is basic research - some things make it out of the lab morphed into something of practical use, some things never. It's hard to judge viability by the pop science articles.

But practical applications for a specific research is not always important.
It pushes mankind's understanding of the universe forward.
Sometimes an advancement in one field which has little application has enormous ramifications for another.

Unfortunately American investment (governmental) seems to have leveled off.
