Yes, the slave states at that time belonged to the Dem party (the right wingers).. Lincoln was a member of the Republican party which is where the progressives/ liberals resided (the Left)... eventually the parties switched sides, due in large part to the Civil Rights act in the 1960s So now the progressives/liberals reside in the Dem party and the Republican party is the party of xenophobes and the Party of the confederate slave states I didn't think you were THIS stupid are you that stupid or just lying? both?
