Scooter Libby was convicted. As always in such matters, it was for the cover-up and lying to the FBI. He was a "good soldier", took the fall for Cheney. Cheney of course begged and begged Bush to pardon Libby, which Bush steadfastly refused. The water-board torturer-in chief himself should have been on the receiving end of that conviction. Outing a secret agent in payback for undermining their falsified evidence used to bring the United States to war is the quintessential and spitting definition of treason. The Bush war drumbeat was really something else, replete with bogus mobile anthrax lab diagrams at the UN. Anyone who tried to avoid war would have ruined their political prospects at the time. Of course in hindsight, Sanders looks like the true high-roader. And Trump lies, stealing valor being his only other profession, that he was against the war beforehand. He heroically avoided getting caught in Vietnam as well, choosing to serve by valiantly avoiding AIDS while later partying at Studio 64 with mob lawyers.
