Re: Does this mean that CPU can make machins that DELL can't
make ? Wow, I would think this would be simple for the almighty.

No, it's mainly a configuration game.. you do research
stocks a little more in-depth athan hardware I hope. Have you
seen the CPU systems up close and personal??? Have you
looked under the hood?? never mind, you wouldn't know
what to look for.

Gee... maybe Dell has decided to avoid the Trident chipset
because of its weak performance characteristics or the fact
that it does'nt support AGP. There are numerous hardware
differences and experienced users know this... newbies
such as yourself don't... they buy on price only and bring
the organization down with tech support nightmares.
I don't want Dell in this space until and unless
they have no choice.

I suppose you buy automobiles based strictly on engine
horse-power ratings<gggg>.

If you understood the size and scope of the market, you might
come to understand that there is no reason to be in that
space right now. This is why Dell pays big bucks to top
management minds to make the right decisions at the right
times. I'm sure you know better though.

Do you think Dell is avoiding the low end because
a) They can't figure out how to design a de-featured system
b) They can get P2 300's cheap but not P2 233's
c) Other PC mfgrs who buy much lower volumes somehow have a price advantage so Dell can't compete on price
d) They can make more money targeting businesses and 2nd time
buyers

Why oh why are they avoiding this segment?

Let's see... you're short the stock so you would applaud a
product mix move away from servers, workstations and mid-high
end desktops which have unlimited upside potential for a
company in Dell's position. Use your head, get some facts
and try to think like a business for a moment. Dont invest
based on your superior insight as to all the mistakes you
think Dell is making.

This is why your logic is backwards and your intentions transparent.

No I have'nt seen the commercial. You didn't get the exact
spec's did you? Pretty brilliant of them not to update their
website. Must be a strategic tactical decision.

I'm quite sure that given Intel's recent $150 price drop on the P2 233s...given Dell's inability to turn inventory, it'll be many weeks
before we see an equivelant price cut<gg>.

Quiz: As a percentage of WW sales across all segments in Q4..
approximately what percent of machines sold were sub-zero?

Let's see if you can figure this out without my help.

cheers

Jim re: I just say the 233 II and the $1,299 price tag.
Did you really see the comercial that I saw about an hour or
so ago ? Could this be a new offering from CPU because of
the INTC price cuts ? Could this machine be competition
for Dell ? I know, nothing can compete with the almighty
DELL ;)

Just got back from CompUSA after lunch. The salespeople
want some of what you're smokin regarding CPU's $1299
PentiumII 233Mhz system.

Are you sure you know what you saw or is your intent to
deliberately spread mis-information??
