Jim, IBM has 14 factories in SE Asia. Their costs have dropped dramaticly. They also have Asian Corps. marketing and mfg. their products.

IBM probably does 20-25% of its business in Asia, mostly in Japan. This segment will suck this quarter. On the other hand, Europe, which has been sick since forever, will pick up nicely. Hopefully enough to save the quarter. I think IBM also has some extra money set aside to guarantee their quarters. As I posted before, the employee bonus can be trimmed, and they can accelerate share buybacks, albeit by borrowing yet more cash.
