Delgado claims Donald Trump can’t release his tax returns while being audited, but MSNBC’s Tamron Hall called B.S. on that. On Tuesday, Tamron Hall grilled the TRUMP–Pence campaign’s senior advisor within an inch of her life about those tax returns. She even produced a video from 2014 with Donald Trump promising to release his tax returns if he runs for the White House…even though the IRS was auditing him at the time. For someone who keeps hounding his opponent as “Crooked Hillary,” he’s sure got a lot to hide. But A.J. Delgado doubled down and insisted her boss can’t release his tax returns as every presidential candidate in recent history has done before him. It all started when Delgado claimed Donald Trump has done more to improve the lives of veterans than Hillary Clinton just by talking about them. But Tamron Hall skeptically inquired: ‘He’s expressed vocal support of the veterans and that’s improved the lives of veterans?’ The campaign staffer adds that her boss has also helped financially. But Tamron Hall pushes back: ‘How do we know that, because he won’t release his taxes?’ A.J. Delgado starts to go off on her schpiel, but Hall snaps, “We can’t verify it because he has not released his taxes. Which brings me to …” Delgado interrupts with that all-too-familiar chant: ‘He’s under audit, though, Tamron. You can’t release when you’re under audit.’ “Yes, you can,” the MSNBC host insists. “There’s nothing to prevent you from releasing…” But her guest digs in her heels and declares, “You shouldn’t. As an attorney myself, I’d tell him you cannot do that.” Tamron Hall loses her patience and declares: ‘All of his attorneys have used that same line, so it’s clear that it’s a talking point. But to be clear, he can. He can release his taxes, right?’ A.J. Delgado responds “I promise I’m not feeding you a talking point.” But guess what? Tamron Hall’s got some video footage from 2014…with Donald Trump promising to release his tax returns. ‘If I decide to run for office, I’ll produce my tax returns absolutely. And I would love to do that.’ Then, Hall triumphantly declares: ‘And A.J., that was 2014, Donald Trump was under audit even then. He knew that, but he still made that pledge. Why not honor it?’ You’d think that would leave Delgado speechless, but no. Like all Trump staffers, she’s got balls of brass. She replies: ‘Because I think there’s no need, once again, when you’re under audit, to create a situation that could be detrimental to his finances, to his relationship with the IRS to release that.’ Watch: Donald Trump promises to release his tax returns if he runs way back in 2014…While under audit.
