**OFF SUBJECT**
Bill,

I think Zoologists and animal behaviorist will tell you that the dog that catches a frisbee isnt solving a differential equation but is responding to a trained system of reward coupled with an instinctual skill of responding to the movement of "prey". I believe the bulk of literature supports PX's comment that among the species , humans are notable in our ability to anticipate outside the range of direct experience by drawing analogies and extrapolating outcomes.
Best,
Stitch

Re: Cost curves; Frisbees

Hello Bill, thanks for your input.

Good point about dogs and frisbees <g>.

With respect to your comments about marginal cost curves for chip and HDD companies, it may well be that I did not articulate this clearly in the Cycles article. To me, it seems almost so obvious that it doesn't need to be dwelt on; hoever, I think you are quite correct and that I should make clear this very critical aspect of the functioning of these businesses. I like your analogy to the oil business, it portrays the situation well.
