The point is they need to achieve relevance and in the office productivity software business that means ubiquity. Look, Corel is simply maintaining warmed-over DOS software which they inherented in a game of hot potato (potatoe if you're a republican) and they would not even know where to start insofar as designing and implementing an object-oriented, distributed application. Moreover, the consumate loser leading this tiny company has managed to piss off the two companies responsible for making distributed computing a practical business reality: IBM and Sun Microsystems. It's clear that Corel has an infintile grasp of this technology and their first priority after getting rid of Cowpland should be to bring in fresh talent that understands, even on a superficial level, what network computing is all about.
