I'm not sure, but I would think Compaq would match Packard Bell's pricing and here is what they said about the PB model.

Packard Bell will show a new model with the same features as Compaq's model 2240 at a $799 price point, but is cycling to price points $100 lower in January and February.

Compaq and Packard Bell battling it out at the low-end with the GX. We are talking serious volumes here!

How about the TSMC news? Do you think National is slowly severing its ties to its more expensive foundry partner? It sure appears that way.
