I bought a lot that had been previously owned by an escaped drug dealer. It took 2 weeks and scouring the mainland before my title company found a small company in Texas that would insure against gov't seizure.

Real estate investing is a lot trickier than most understand.

Don't get me started on real estate agents...

I believe standard homeowner's policies work in similar fashion, ie owner makes a claim but insurance only pays for value at the time of the original purchase or the % of coverage you bought originally.......I believe it is very hard to find an insurer that will give you full replacement value for your claim....most people don't know that either...

Who the hell would ever buy homeowner's insurance that didn't include replacement value? What sort of rock do you live under?
