Kick, Kick, Boom! Elderly Homeowner Stops Criminal Cold

Posted at 10:02 am on September 14, 2016 by Jenn Jacques

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said an intruder was shot and killed in self defense as he attempted to break into the home of an elderly man in Augusta, GA.

The man killed was identified by authorities as Anthony James Lawson, 40, of 3411 Charing Cross Road, of Augusta. He was shot at a residence in the 2400 block of Wrightsboro Road and pronounced dead at 3:38 a.m., Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said.

The resident, Joseph Patterson, 69, told sheriff’s investigators that Lawson attempted to kick open the front door of the home and then pushed a window air conditioner out to get inside. Patterson then shot Lawson with a handgun, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Patterson said he did not know the man trying to break into his home and dialed 9-1-1 as soon as Lawson started kicking in his front door. Authorities say Lawson’s body was found inside the residence and the homeowner is not being charged with any crime stemming from the incident.

Lawson was convicted in Richmond County in 2003 of reckless conduct by an HIV-infected person. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison but was later paroled in 2010 to Richmond County. While on probation, Lawson was charged with and convicted of disorderly conduct and theft by taking and public drunkenness.

Yet another instance where a criminal should have still been behind bars serving his sentence instead of being allowed to terrorize his community. How’s that criminal justice reform workin for ya?

Authorities Credit One Item For Keeping an Illinois Man Alive Posted at 9:17 am on September 15, 2016 by Beth Baumann

Earlier this week, a concealed carrier in Granite City, Illinois, a St. Louis suburb, shot an armed robber. The victim was dropping off a friend after work when an armed assailant attempted to rob him.

According to investigators, the man saved his life by having a concealed carry permit and a gun to go with it.

“An armed assailant attempted an armed robbery on a citizen. Fortunately, that citizen is a concealed carry permit holder and was armed and was able to defend himself by firing at the assailant,” said Tom Gibbons, Madison County State’s Attorney.

“…Thank God this individual was armed. Thank God this individual was able to defend himself. Had he not been this may could gone in a much terrible way. No one who is a concealed carry permit holder wants to shoot someone but fortunately in this case this armed citizen was able to defend himself and his friend. Unfortunately, the assailant got what was coming to him.”

The suspect is currently hospitalized. Officials haven’t said what charges he will face, if any. The concealed carry permit holder will not face any criminal charges.

"Great Kid” Killed While Committed Home Invasion Pretending To Be Police
Posted at 1:50 pm on September 13, 2016 by Bob Owens

16-year-old Hillside High School student Jalen Thompson Johnson was shot and killed early yesterday as he donned a mask, claimed to be a police officer, and tried to kick in the door of a Durham, NC apartment. Unfortunately for Johnston, the homeowner was not only also armed, he was a better shot.

A teen was shot to death while trying to force his way into an apartment in Durham Monday morning, police said. The resident of the apartment was injured in the shooting.

Durham police responded to a report of a shooting at 12:42 a.m. in the 800 block of East Woodcroft Parkway at South Terrace at Auburn Apartments.

Police said that Jalen Thompson Johnson, 16, of Durham, was wearing a mask and was “apparently…attempting to force entry into an occupied apartment.”

Johnson and the man who lived in the home appeared to have exchanged gunfire, according to police. The man in the apartment was shot in the leg and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

You’d almost be convinced by how WNCN covered the story that Johnson was the victim here, instead of a violent criminal.

The teenager left dead after the gunfire, Jalen Johnson, was a student at Hillside High School in Durham. The school’s principal, Dr. William Logan, said Johnson was a “great kid” and called his death a “loss to our school.”

Word about Johnson’s death spread quickly via social media and the school worked quickly to provide a way for students to grieve.

“Counselors from our team are here to assist the students,” Logan said.

Johnson was such a “great kid” that he committed armed robbery and shot a man during a home invasion while pretending to be a police officer.

The only thing Hillside High School lost when Jalen Johnson died was a criminal threat to the student body.

Fortunately the apartment owner did not fall for Johnson’s ruse and was able to defend himself.

“He Got What Was Coming to Him.” Frail 70 Y/O Uses Handgun To Save Himself From Home Invader
Posted at 2:32 pm on September 12, 2016 by Bob Owens

A frail senior citizen who walks with the aid of a cane is alive today because he was able to retrieve his .38 handgun and use it to defend his life against a much younger home invader.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department says it was about 5:30 Thursday afternoon when they were called to Campo Road. Deputies say that’s where Sebastian Thompson, 48, broke into a home and attacked a 70-year-old man.

“I heard the cops come, and as it was evening, I tried to go the store, but this entire way was blocked off,” said Neighbor Liam Wilson.

Deputies are not releasing where it happened but neighbors pointed out the home to KRQE News 13. They say seeing deputies surround it left them worried about their neighbor.

“He walks with a cane. He’s kinda a bit older and has some issues. I think that a strong breeze would push him over,” said Jacob Johnson.

BCSO says Thompson attacked the man with a bamboo stick and a hockey stick. The victim suffered a severe head injury but was able to shoot Thompson in the chest, using a .38 caliber hand gun. Thompson died at the scene.

Szonja Johnson said, “Good for him. That’s awesome that he was able to think that fast and he was able to protect himself.”

Wilson said, “The intruder got what he had coming to him.”

It infuriates me to see supporters of gun control and confiscation attempt to argue that citizens don’t need and shouldn’t have firearms to defend themselves against violent criminals. Invariably, these critics are middle-class, in good health, in safe neighborhoods, who have never had to deal with the horrors any more substantial than grade-school bullying.

Concealed Carrier Saves Mother, Baby, Good Samaritan By Killing Armed Robber
Posted at 10:56 am on September 12, 2016 by Bob Owens

A robber is dead, another suspect is in custody, a baby is safe, and two people are recovering in the hospital following an armed robbery attempt at a Shawnee, KS Walmart on Sunday night that was thwarted by a concealed carrier who saved three lives.

Police are investigating after a shooting in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart on Shawnee Mission Parkway off Interstate 435.

Police said the incident began when two suspects approached a woman in the parking lot putting her baby in a car seat, and hit the woman in the head. That’s when a Good Samaritan stepped in to help her, and was subsequently shot multiple times by one of the suspects.

Another bystander then shot one of the suspects, who died at the scene. The other suspect fled the scene, but was caught by a K-9 team east of the Wal-Mart.

The mother was taken to the hospital with critical head injuries. The Shawnee Police later said she was upgraded to fair condition and may be released from the hospital soon. The baby was unharmed.

The bystander who was shot was also taken to a hospital with critical injuries. Police later said that person was awake and alert, and underwent surgery on Sunday.

As of Monday morning, one of the suspects was being held in the Wyandotte County jail on a warrant. Police say they used Wal-Mart surveillance video to help track down the suspect.

It was brave of the unarmed man stepping in to try to help this mother under attack by these armed robbers, but it was smart of the concealed carrier to be armed and skilled with his handgun so that he was able to end the threat and send the remaining bad guy running for his life.

A police K9 and Walmart security camera footage quickly led to a second suspect being arrested.

His mom, of course, swears that he was innocent.

"you won't remember being born either, but your mother will..."

Not anymore.
My oldest memory? "Last time, I was his brother, and this lifetime. I'll chosen him to be my father. I hope Last Dad doesn't show up."
