Greg,

It was not such a case that Intel shot its own foot by offering Compaq PMMX-166 at cost.

The truth is that Intel was forced to supply Compaq PMMX-166 at cost! I said that Intel would have to offer Pentium at cost to compete with Cyrix MediaGX long time ago. They just did it!

What would Intel quarter earning be dropped to if their ASP falls from the last quarter's $210 to $150? LOAD UP with cheap INTC JAN puts to catch its free fall!

Money time!

Greg - Re: " the Intel 166 sub $1,000.00 systems are the best excuse for an amd (not pentuium II upgrade down the road"

Why an AMD K6? You need a special voltage adapter to get the 3.3 volts for an AMD K6 to run at 233 MHz! Then power disspation becomes a potential nightmare!

A simple Intel Pentium MMX 233 Mhz chip will plug right in to the same socket and run at the same 2.8 volts!

An Intel upgrade to an Intel product - nothing simpler!

But you knew that - didn't you?
