97% of scientists who are paid to study Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect believed in it according to a common claim. "Yes, I'm a true believer" is a wise approach when being a member of a church or cult. Apostasy, blasphemy and heresy are punished viciously.

Even when the "Settled Science" computer models failed to match what reality did, they could not bring themselves to deny that the science was settled. Instead, they broke a rule as fundamental to science as the four forces of the apocalypse are to science and changed their "Settled Science" to include heat leaping from the troposphere to the deep ocean in a single bound without passing Go, where it can hide like plumes from the BP Gulf of Mexico oil leak ready to pounce out at any time to destroy the world.

There were no plumes that mattered and the ocean is huge enough to hold petatons of CO2 and megatons of oil leaked in droplets - both of which are consumed in natural processes as part of the life cycle and geological cycles that include oceanic sediment kilometres deep which trundle across to subduction zones where the organic matter flows up to magma chambers powering volcanoes or leaks out or is collected to make oil and gas deposits.

Most of those so-called scientists are not really scientists but are more like numismatists, philatelists or lepidopterists - collectors and classifiers. They were able to rote learn enough stuff to get a degree in some basket weaving science but aren't actual thinkers. Then they are in the club and have to shut up, do as they are told, believe what they're told, or be excommunicated and impoverished.

You'd better believe it, or else... Stockholm Syndrome works well.
