JIm, MIS has been doing this agressively for yrs.
but, of late it's very very agressive.
IT ISN'T A ONE TIME EVENT.
In jan 1997 i took long distance from 14cents a min. to 7.5 cents a min.
in 1998 January i took it to 6 cents a min. and I told them I want January free forever. they said yes.
So, it's not a one time event.
you will see 2-3 cent a minute Long Distance.
I can walk into any corp in the world including Dell and prove to them that their local phone carrier is overcharging at least 25%.

Please read some research on Information technology.....I've seen zero reports that say MIS is cutting back. In fact, most top execs are seeing logistics, engineering and MIS as a key to future.
After I milk Long distance and local telecom
I'll work on cellular and pagers
then it will be ISP's time to drastically cut
EDI is going to become cheap with internet
video conferencing over internet.
international phonecall via internet
replace fax charges with internet.
the list never stops.
I'm not the gov't...it use to take 5 hrs. a week to update our extranet and website. It now takes 35 minutes.
I told our webmaster..get it to seconds
