Darrell, I'm also quite concerned about this and think that the impact on earnings for the economy as a whole has yet to be fully realized. However, the market tends to discount the future well in advance of the actual denouement. To take two examples of companies with wide Asian exposure: ATML and LSI. Their share prices have been dropping for months and now lie at a two year low. By the time the actual results are made known, much of the effect on the price of the stock will have already been realized. Will they go lower? Quite possibly. However, when the bottom is finally reached and prices begin to climb again, it will again occur in advance of the actual release of improved earnings reports.

I personally think that the indices have to go lower and cash is a good place to be at present. I also know that ASND does a significant amount of business in Asia, and this worries me. However, the company stated only a few weeks ago that they were comfortable with estimates. Given their credibility problems lately and the lawsuits, they would have to be either utter fools or out and out liars to blow it so near the end of the quarter. We'll find out whether they are in the next couple of days. If there is no warning, investors could begin wondering about an upside surprise. Given the short interest it could get interesting for longs.
