As Akins explained it, the stepper manufacturers are a super secretive bunch, and their business health depends very much on being able to maintain secret their plans, problems, production rates, suppliers, etc. A production snafu at Nikon, if it became public knowledge, could create rapant defection of its customers to Canon or ASM or SVGI. Since Cymer wants to retain its status as preferred supplier (in light of competitive products from Komatsu and Lambda Physik) it is not unreasonable for Cymer to honor its customers' wishes of secrecy. But I agree with you that having the visibility you ask for would sure be nice. Tulvio

RE: "supporting the stock price"

No reason to support anything at these levels. Why waist energy or PR dollars...Difference between a PR person and a Salesman: the PR person never asks anyone to buy...the Salesman asks everyone to buy....

IMO,,,,Just be quiet , be a Pig, be a salesman, fire all the PR persons..and pull those coins out from between the couches.

RE: Who holds the gold

IMO...Very obvious to me who holds the gold....and it is not Cymer..Cymer wants the gold...and has a good chance of obtaining it....The gold owner.... is the purchaser of the product...everything else is just NOISE....Cymer has to prove the efficacy of their product...and SELL THE HELL OUT OF IT.....

BOTTOM LINE...I would say the Non-disclosures...are a beneficial clause for all parties ....it is just a matter of perspective...
