>>>SP, are you one and same who, not long ago, called this co. a "pig" on way to slaughterhouse? What changed?<<<

I still believe that CSCO has little upside over 60 for the next couple months or so, and that there is still the possibility of temporary retreats in share-price to 50 and maybe a couple points below. The resistance to the upside is what makes it a comfortable short to me, but then again, now that we are heading into January, I recognize that instead of selling CSCO to lock in gains in light of potential Asian impacts on the networking sector (significant considering CSCO's large % of the total NW business), CSCO may be considered a safe haven to park/shelter capital. The only thing that could really hit CSCO hard is to miss a Q, and I would dislike that very much since it would send shock waves into my ASND position which is already battered enough as it is.

I was able to successfully trade it once for a decent profit, but I'm a realist, and am not eager to push my luck. CSCO was stoic throughout the last 6 months of a brutal market. If the "January effect" kicks in, than the company will have the advantage of a positive environment, as well. And approaching earnings, there's no way I'd bother shorting -- not worth the risk, or ulcers.

Oh, and I said this pig was due for a "trimming", not the slaughter house.
