One I can think of is, due to FATCA laws - Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act - many non US based brokers and banks refuse to do business with USA citizens and they close non US based accounts and/or limit online access to non US based isp's due to burdensome IRS reporting requirements. The reverse is true as well. You can search for info regarding FATCA and CBT - Citizen Based Taxation - if you're interested. It appears that FATCA and CBT is the primary reason a record number of expats are renouncing their US citizenship. Etrade is one example. I logged into my US based Etrade acct. while traveling in Denmark and they locked my account due to suspicious activity. Etrade closed all non US based business a couple of years ago due to FATCA and allow access through US based isp's only. Some US based banks have done the same.
